Functions of Rural Works Department, Madhya Pradesh Government

1.   The basic objectives of the department is to construct and maintain the rural roads falling mainly in the category of Other District Roads (ODR) and Village Roads (VR).

 Other District Roads : 12,746 Kms

 Village Roads : 38,898 Kms  

Our vision is to provide Farm to Market Connectivity to all eligible habitations:

 With a population of 1000 and above by end of 2009.

 With a population of 500~999 by 2009-10.

 Villages with a population of below 500 in two years thereafter.  

2.   Major Connectivity Programmes:

 Special Component Yojana (for SC/ST)
